“You Look Like Willie Nelson” Grandpa Uses Humor To Support His Wife During Battle With Cancer

Image shows an elderly couple laughing at the grandma trying on wigs during cancer treatments.

Cancer treatment sucks. One of the most common things for cancer sufferers is the loss of hair. We’ve done articles about hair loss in the past. Some people opt to deal with hair loss by getting a wig. When this grandma was fighting cancer, that was her choice. Grandpa’s reaction was… well, see for yourself.

Staying in good spirits is essential during a battle with cancer, especially with elderly patients. Grandpa seems to understand the assignment. As Grandma came out to model her new wig, he looked and said, “Ohhhh, will ya look at that?” A second later, he seemed to have misgivings as he said, “I don’t believe I like that.” They were laughing at this point. He clarified his feelings between snorts by spurting out, “Now you look like Willie Nelson.”

And she did! The black wig sporting long braids resembles the Willie Nelson we all love. Although we may not remember, Willie did have darker hair once. Now, it is gray, but we still get the comparison. After making the comparison, both Grandma and Grandpa burst into snort-laughs. The person recording the cute video is also snort-laughing in the background.

This couple has been married for 63 years. You can sense their comfort with one another during the brief exchange. If you know someone like this grandma suffering from cancer, remember the lesson here. Laughter is good for the soul. And there are worse things than looking like Willie Nelson in a Temu wig.

We’re glad that this grandma, even with the cancer diagnosis and treatment, hasn’t lost the ability to laugh. Laughing at yourself with loved ones is an excellent option in life! Find your happy place no matter what things you face in life.
