People have all kinds of things on their bucket lists: Meeting their favorite celebrity, traveling to Paris, and going skydiving, to name a few.
Bertha Komor’s dream was a little more unique than that. The number one thing on her bucket list had always been to hold a penguin – and after 104 years, her wish finally came true!
On her 104th birthday, Twilight Wish CT and Mystic Aquarium decided to make Bertha’s dream a reality. They surprised her and her friends with a special guest: A beautiful penguin named Mr. Red Green!
“Never thought it would happen,” said Bertha.
With the help of caregivers from the Holiday Village Gate of Farmington, Bertha got to hold and pet Mr. Red Green who is the oldest penguin at Mystic Aquarium. Her daughter and granddaughter were there to accompany her for this special moment.
“I am just so excited for her,” said her granddaughter, Karen Rivkin. “Just so happy that she was able to have this wish come true and to just have been in our life for as long as she has.”
