Wednesdays with Grandma is a thing, so James and his mom pick her up, ready for an exciting day. Grandma is 95 years old, and James is 2 years old, but that doesn’t stop them from having an awesome day full of smiles. You might think a 2-year-old would be a bit too rambunctious for a 95-year-old, but this woman has some kind of magic going on.

The day started by picking Grandma up. She came out wearing a bright yellow shirt that says “HOWDY.” After climbing into the backseat with her great-grandson, James, they were off. She politely asked James if she could go to his house to spend the day. We can’t hear him, but he did say yes. James is named after Grandma’s late husband, who passed shortly after James’ birth. But Grandpa did get to meet the baby.
Sharing lunch with James on her lap and the dog waiting for dropsies was their first activity. After lunch, it was cuddle time. They shared some craft time, drawing at a miniature picnic table. Grandma must have the patience of a saint to be able to entertain a 2-year-old at his level.

After craft time, the two buddies sat on the floor for some reading. I know 45-year-olds who can’t get up off the floor without grunting. Seriously, what does this woman put in her cereal? Later, she is standing up holding James, exclaiming that he now weighs more than half her weight.
When it was time for goodbyes, they happily shared hugs. Great-grandma told James she’d be back, maybe “next Wednesday.” James’ mom admits that she knows we are “just here for grandma,” so we’ll see you next Wednesday, too.
