Gorillas Do The Most Human Thing Ever When It Starts To Rain.

Image shows two different gorillas running in from an unexpected rain shower at the London Zoo.

If you’re a music aficionado, you might be familiar with the folk song “We Come From Monkeys” by the group Emerald Rose. While the song makes light of evolution, it makes it clear that human DNA is very close to that of “monkeys.” We share almost 99% of our DNA with primates, and they often display behaviors that are similar or relatable to our behaviors!

Primates are intelligent but lack many human reasoning and speech abilities. With that said, we can often be astounded by their intelligence. Gorillas, for example, can learn and communicate using American Sign Language. Many primate species, not just gorillas, are adept at basic tool usage (but I wouldn’t trust them with the car keys). From smaller monkey species to the great apes, primates have always captivated mankind with their intelligence and unique behavior.

DNA similarities aside, primates often show behaviors that demonstrate just how closely related they are to humans. For example, their reactions to common life circumstances can prove to be incredibly relatable! None of us like rain… these gorillas nailed a perfect and relatable response when it began raining at the London Zoo.
