Gopher Pops Head Out Of Hole To Find Gentle Dog Waiting To Say Adorable Hello.

Some dogs just want to make friends with everyone they meet.

Even though she weighs about 100 pounds, a Great Pyrenees named Fiona is as gentle a dog as any you’ll ever meet. Her owner says “she is just the sweetest dog.”

Hundreds of years of selective breeding has resulted in the Great Pyrenees we know today: infinitely patient and gentle, yet capable of courageous acts when it comes to protecting their families.

According to the AKC, “These steadfast guardians usually exhibit a Zen-like calm, but they can quickly spring into action and move with grace and speed to meet a threat.”

As a family dog Fiona doesn’t have to worry much about fending off threats, but she shows a lot of that trademark patience every time she and her human visit the Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. They take a walk there almost every day, and Fiona has a knack for making new friends every time.

Recently she learned that the holes she kept finding in the ground at the park have a secret: inside each hole lurks a tiny gopher! Once she figured it out, Fiona became determined to befriend the adorable rodents. Now, whenever time allows, she parks herself next to a hole and patiently waits for a gopher to pop his head up so she can say hello.

“She does it quite often,” Fiona’s mom told The Dodo. “She thinks everyone wants to say hi to her.”

Fiona’s human mom got a cute video of one of their encounters, and it’s just about the sweetest thing we’ve ever seen. The way the little gopher pops up and Fiona’s incredible gentleness just makes us swoon!
