Go Grandma! 1st “Grandparents Race” At Emerald Downs Proves To Be A Success.

Grandparents start to run for Grandparents Race at Emerald Downs in Washington State.

Sure, horse races might be pretty popular, but have you ever heard of a grandparent race? As the name implies, it involves a group of grandmas and grandpas competing for that coveted first prize. This special event took place last weekend during Grandparents Weekend at Emerald Downs racetrack in Washington State.

This is the first time the racetrack has celebrated Grandparents Weekend and, based on how well it went this year, we wouldn’t be surprised if it wasn’t the last. Around 25 determined grandmas and grandpas joined the race, and they certainly brought their A-game.

Emerald Downs shared a video of this monumental race, and it proved to be just as amazing as it sounds. Each one took off at great speeds, determined to be the first to finish the 40 yards in front of them. Sure, there were a few stumbles along the way, but no one got hurt. In the end, though, only one could be the winner. And that person was Steve Butler of Everett, Washington!
