Go Big Or Gourd Home! Giant Pumpkin Festival Features Uniquely Hilarious Race.

Do you remember that episode of Modern Family where Phil and Claire jump in a pumpkin and try to steer it around the river?

These pros are putting the Dunphys to shame!

It’s the 29th Elk Grove Giant Pumpkin Festival in Elk Grove, California, and these creative pirates are taking to the waters in an exciting squash ship.

Racers carve out the insides of giant pumpkins, stick them in the water, and do their best to maneuver the boats down the river.

The winner of this year’s race was Johnny “The Shark” Gayton, who is now on a two-year winning streak!

Folks in the comments are obsessed with this incredible autumn activity.

“This should be on NATIONAL TELEVISION,” said one fan in the comments.

“Oh my gourd! That looks so fun,” said another witty viewer.

What a fantastic reminder to get outside and enjoy the fall fun. Joy is everywhere… sometimes you just need to cut out the middle of a pumpkin first!
