While serving in Afghanistan, Derek was seriously injured and earned a Purple Heart. Since his return home, he’s struggled with his recovery and post-traumatic stress disorder. Together with the Military Warriors Support Foundation, George Strait gifted Derek a new home.
George Strait Presented Derek With A Key To His New Home
A Military Warriors Support Foundation representative shared Derek’s story with the crowd at the George Strait Show and made a special announcement.
“Well, we’re going to say ‘thank you’ in a very, very, very special way,” before announcing the big news: “We’re going to give this hero a beautiful house!”
George Strait sat humbly on the stage during the announcement but waived briefly when the announcer told the crowd George sponsored the home. He is a well-known supporter of the Military Warriors Support Foundation, and they were clearly thankful for his generosity and love.
