Sarah Bowden’s son, Shepherd, absolutely adores the garbage truck crew that services their home. He runs out to greet Mr. Q and Mr. Zakee, who work for Republic Services, whenever he can. The friendly men always take time to speak with Shep, give him a high five, or share a laugh. Recently, he was at school when the garbage truck crew made their rounds, much to his chagrin. But his good buddies left him a surprise that Shepherd, nor his mom, will ever forget.

This Garbage Truck Crew Knows What Customer Service is All About
Shepherd’s two friends from the garbage truck crew left him his own Republic Services truck to play with. When Sarah presented him with the gift, the little boy’s face lit up. She shared a video on Instagram, and people can’t help but fall in love with the entire story.
“This week Mr. Q and Mr Zakee came back with the sweetest surprise for Shep. Watching my son learn kindness, friendship, and community from people in our everyday life has been really special,” Sarah wrote. “Thank you @mr.q_thegarbageman and Zakee for being such genuine, kind humans. Y’all are making core memories whether you realize it or not.”
“They say to never meet your heroes but Mr Q is the hero we all need!! Shep GLOWS because of Mr. Q!!!” A fan shared on Instagram.
One person had such a beautiful takeaway from Shepherd’s relationship with the garbage truck crew. WE all need to think like this.
“I think this is like extra beautiful because not only do they have an awesome relationship, but your son also is learning the value of everyone’s work like you don’t have to be the owner of a big company or a millionaire to be important,” they wrote. “You can be as simple as the person who takes the trash and that is valuable and I know your son is gonna grow up to be the most compassionate person and it just makes my heart swell with all the shit that’s been going on in the world. This makes me feel whole.”
We agree. These men are the angels among us who make the world a better place. We know this family will never forget you.
