A Cat Is A Cat… Bobcat Shows Off Silly Way All Kitties React To Things They “Don’t Understand”

Image shows a funny bobcat swatting a net that has invaded her territory.

Rustic Acres Wildcat Rescue is a small, nonprofit sanctuary located in Providence, Rhode Island. They specialize in rescuing and caring for wild cats that have been seized or were illegally owned. The refuge provides forever care for cats that cannot return to the wild. As a no-contact facility, they strive to educate the public about bobcats and other large cats. The animals are wild, and the staff do not handle them or treat them as pets. But they do observe their behavior, and bobcats can be as funny as domestic cats.

Whether they are large cats or domestic house cats, cats are cats. Some behaviors are the same. When faced with a strange object, bat it into submission. A small skimming net was in Moxie’s enclosure, so when she saw it, she had to explore it. Although the net seemed harmless, the bobcat felt it needed a few smacks to show who was boss.

Part of caring for the wild cats at the sanctuary is providing enrichment activities. Keeping captive animals engaged and healthy, both mentally and physically, means providing enrichment activities. These might be special feeding puzzles, rubber duckies in a kittie pool, or an empty box. If I fits, I sits.

The rescue also adopts domestic cats with disabilities or who have been abandoned. The small sanctuary holds accreditation by the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries (GFAS) and must maintain high standards of care and facility maintenance. The facility features a live bobcat cam, allowing viewers to observe the cats’ funny behaviors in their natural habitat.

If you can’t get enough of the funny behaviors of these bobcats, find the sanctuary on social media: Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. The cats are waiting.
