All this football player wanted was a peaceful hike, but what he ended up finding was a new pet dog! Jaylen Ellis was taking a scenic walk in the mountains when he spotted a lone pooch with no owners in sight. From the state of the pup’s fur, the Colorado athlete assumed that she wasn’t being cared for by anyone. So, he decided to take her home and give her a bath before ringing up the Humane Society.
This was hardly the end of the adventure. Moments after finding the dog, the football player crossed paths with a tiny kitten who was also wandering through the woods! Jaylen packed both animals into his car and drove home. Then, he got in touch with the Humane Society. While they managed to find the kitty a foster home, Jaylen couldn’t bear to part with the dog. So, he ended up adopting her! He calls her “Angel.”
Although the football player found this dog by chance, the two are now pretty much inseparable. According to a video from The Dodo, they do everything together, from playing video games to dancing like no one is watching!
“I love my dog with me,” Jaylen said. “That’s my daughter.”
It just goes to show you what can happen when you open your heart to a rescue dog! This pooch and her owner have a truly magical bond.
