First Look: Glimpses Of The Snow Moon From Around The Globe

While we are still waiting for tonight’s snow moon to make an appearance in the United States, countries around the globe are already starting to experience the event, and the photos people are posting on social media are absolutely stunning.

Tonight’s event is the smallest full moon of the year. It happens when the moon’s orbit is at the furthest point from Earth. The snow moon is best viewed just as it’s rising in the early evening, and some countries are already well into their twilight hours, which means they’re getting a lunar show as we type. Scroll below to see a preview of what’s to come tonight.

“Beautiful view from Greystones county Wicklow this morning as The Snow Moon was setting beside the Sugarloaf, ” wrote CraigoPhoto, a photographer based in Wicklow Ireland. “Can also just about see a couple of spectators on top of the Sugarloaf taking it all in. Anyone else get to see it this morning?”

These photos show a massive view of the Snow Moon coming up over Burrow Hill in Somerset, which is in South West England.

Another photographer captures a gorgeous shot of the snow moon hovering over Roker Lighthouse in the United Kingdom.

We’ll be keeping an eye on the snow moon as it makes its way to North America. Be sure to keep up with the event as it continues to grace the skies around the world!
