Parents love finding an interest that they can share with their kids, because anything that will bring them closer together and strengthen their bond is a win. Most of the time, these interests are something like sports, movies, or music. Every now and then, the interest is a shared talent that can blow people away.
That’s the case for high school sophomore Reagan Peterson and her dad, Army Chaplain Paul Peterson. The two both enjoy singing, whether together or separate, and recently left an entire gymnasium of people with their jaws dropped after they performed the National Anthem together.

Paul is a dad to six (yes, SIX) young girls including 15-year-old Reagan. The dedicated dad has found ways to connect with all of his girls, and a passion for singing is what bonds him with Reagan. In fact, he often posts videos of the two of them practicing different harmonies together on his social media.
Reagan plays on the Fort Campbell High School volleyball team and was asked to sing the National Anthem at the team’s first home game – the day of! She happily accepted and immediately called her dad to see if he’d be willing to come sing with her.

According to Paul, his first thought was “I’m hungry!” because he hadn’t eaten all day. Thankfully, the sweet dad came to his senses and realized what a great opportunity this was for Reagan (not that hunger would ever stop a dad, let’s be honest). He told a local newspaper, “For me as a dad, it was a cool opportunity for me to lay a platform for her to stand on”.
He said he raced over to the school so the two of them could practice a few times before the performance. Not only did he show up for his daughter, he made sure he was dressed in his Army uniform to honor his country as well.

Paul posted a video of their a capella duet and it quickly became a viral sensation. You’d never know the pair had only practiced a couple of times before standing in the gym to perform. Their harmonies were perfect, it was as if they’d done it hundreds of times before.
Paul is glad he was able to share this sweet moment with Reagan. He said, “When I look at the photos, I see her joy, I see her confidence, I see her love. It’s amazing…It seems like she enjoyed singing with her dad.”

There’s no doubt she loved every second of this performance with her dear old dad. This is surely going to be a memory that stays with her for the rest of her life.
