Farmer’s Viral Barn Dance Is Exactly The Pick-Me-Up You Need.

We’ve told you before about musically talented country guys. There was the farmer who blew the America’s Got Talent judges away with his powerful song, and there was the cowboy dad who walked in on his daughter dancing and broke into a hilarious dance of his own! Like the dad in the latter video, farmer Jay Lavery may be country… but he’s got moves!

Jay Lavery is the proud owner of a farm in Sharon Springs, New York, a small upstate village north of Manhattan. While maintaining a farm is hard work, Jay finds that occasional dance breaks add a little joy to his day!

In the caption of the video below– of Jay breaking it down to Sia’s “Cheap Thrills”– Jay explains that his dancing isn’t just fun, it’s therapeutic:

Dancing is how I stay warm in the barn and I never know when I’m going to break out into a dance.

But what most people don’t know is that 15 years ago I had a traumatic back injury that caused me to have several back surgeries including a discectomy and a spinal fusion and never ending back pain. Dancing along with yoga and meditation are my only alternatives to pain medication.

So I hope this can inspire anyone to move in spite of pain and I hope this puts a smile on your face for the New Year.

Jay says he loves to do silly things like this, and he shares the videos with his friends on Facebook; he never expected this to go viral!

Jay only became a farmer 2 and a half years ago, after years working in New York City as a flight attendant, translator, and stand-up comedian. After getting his degree in clinical psychology, the man of many talents decided the country was calling!

… And it looks like the country life suits him!

Check out Jay’s dance below and share!

It's that time of the year for the Lets Move Challenge. Dancing is how I stay warm in the barn and I never know when I'm going to break out into a dance. But what most people don't know is that 15 years ago I had a traumatic back injury that caused me to have several back surgeries including a discectomy and a spinal fusion and never ending back pain. Dancing along with yoga and meditation are my only alternatives to pain medication. So I hope this can inspire anyone to move in spite of pain and I hope this puts a smile on your face for the New Year.
