Robert Irwin is not only an advocate for animals but also for artists and for how AI is changing the world. As far as Robert’s concerned, it’s not always for the better. The 22-year-old recently shared his thoughts on AI and how he believes it’s harming animal photographers.

“As with any advancement in technology, I think we sometimes forget about the environmental destruction that it can cause,” Robert told Parade. “It’s a big conversation, but I can definitely speak through, pun intended, through the lens of photography. With AI, I think not only does it take away from the artistry of photography, but it also dilutes what is impressive.”

Robert Irwin Wants to Protect Artists from AI
While Robert Irwin agrees that AI serves a purpose for some things, photography isn’t one of them.
“When you see the image of the, I don’t know, the eagle riding the elephant, or whatever ridiculousness it is that people genuinely think is real, when there is the actual, real amazing photo, it almost dilutes it because we’ve seen so many incredible things.”
He said that using AI has made it difficult to tell what is real and what isn’t, and sometimes true photographers don’t get the credit of their incredible work.”
