Supermarket Employee Blows The Roof Off BGT With Aretha Franklin’s “Natural Woman.”

If Eva Iglesias had put any more fire and pizzaz into her audition on “Britain’s Got Talent,” we’d have had our first documented case of spontaneous human combustion.

Even David Walliam commented on it, saying the show’s rarely had a contestant who showed so much passion and emotion and that he could tell she was truly “singing from your heart. It was like your life depended on it.”

But before this audition, barely anyone would’ve known the power she hid inside. She explained that she works as a personal shopper in a supermarket, and while she enjoys it, “if I could sing full-time without working in a supermarket, it would be out of this world.”

Another thing that’s out of this world? That voice! Not only that, but she has an otherworldly stage presence that simply demands the spotlight.

You can’t take your eyes off her as she works her way through Aretha Franklin’s 1967 hit song, “Natural Woman.”

Singing before 20,000 people was “absolutely nerve wracking,” the 40-year-old admitted, (since her biggest audience up to that point had been about 100 people gathered in a pub). But if she had a case of the nerves in front of a much, much larger audience, it sure didn’t show!

By the end of her audition, all four judges and the entire audience were on their feet, completely taken aback by the sheer power of her voice and stage presence. Judge Alesha Dixon still looked a little stunned when she summed up the collective feeling emanating from the judging panel:

You put your heart and soul into that and I love the fact that you looked every single one of us in the eye with such determination, like, ‘You will not say no to me.’ That was just fantastic, and I felt it.

But the world almost missed this star in the making. Eva admitted that she almost didn’t make it to the audition that day because she was still hurting from a recent break-up. But Simon pointed out, was an amazing coincidence, since singer-songwriter Carole King was also dealing with heartache when she co-wrote that very song with Aretha.

So I understand why you were giving it what you gave it.
