“I have been diagnosed with ALS,” he said. “I am grateful to have my loving family by my side as we navigate this next chapter.”
Per The Cleveland Clinic, “ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) is a neurodegenerative condition that affects how nerve cells communicate with your muscles. It leads to muscle weakness that gets worse over time. Symptoms can affect how you move, speak, and breathe. ALS treatment includes therapies and medications to manage symptoms and slow the progression of the disease.”
Although his diagnosis is terminal, for the time being, Eric intends to return to work.
“I feel fortunate that I am able to continue working and am looking forward to returning to set of Euphoria next week,” Eric added. “I kindly ask that you give my family and I privacy during this time.”
Eric Dane Announced His ALS Diagnosis Amid Divorce Proceedings
According to E! News, Rebecca Gayheart recently withdrew the divorce papers she and Eric Dane filed in 2018. While she did not say why the couple decided not to divorce, it sounds like she wants to focus on her family during this incredibly difficult time.
“We are best of friends; We are really close; We are great co-parents,” she told E! News at a screening of the miniseries The Carters: Hurts To Love You in LA on April 9. “We really figured out the formula to staying a family and I think our kids are benefiting greatly from it and we are as well.”
Rebecca added, “I think it’s important to not look at a relationship that ends as a failure. It’s just a season. It wasn’t a failure. It was a huge success,” she said. “We were married for, I mean, we are still married, but together for 15 years and we had two beautiful kids so I think that’s a successful relationship, and that’s how we look at it.”
Eric Dane and Rebecca Gayheart married in 2004 and share daughters Billie Beatrice, 15, and Georgia Geraldine, 13.
