Emmy Russell’s Final “American Idol” Performance Will Go Down As One Of The Season’s Best, Watch Here

Emmy Russell American Idol

While Emmy Russell was voted off American Idol just ahead of the Top 3, her flawless final performance will remain one of Season 22’s best.

The 25-year-old Tennessee native has been a top contender on the series, thanks to her poetic songwriting skills and soothing southern vocals. After wowing the judges with her original song, Skinny during the auditions, Emmy has been soaring through the competition.

Unfortunately, Emmy and Triston Harper were the two singers cut during this week’s second-to-last episode. However, they weren’t voted off due to a lack of talent. This year’s competition just happens to be extremely tight.

Emmy Russell’s final song, Carried Me With You by Brandi Carlile, may not have beat out Abi Carter, Will Moseley, and Jack Blocker. But it was strong enough for judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan to give it a standing ovation and major praise.

Emmy Russell’s “Confident” Performance “Blew Away” The “American Idol” Judges

After she sang the final words, Katy took the microphone to tell Emmy that her singing was flawless.

“That chorus really just opened you up in the right way that’s exactly the voice I want to hear coming out from you time and time again,” she gushed. “I love when you’re up on the stage. I love when you’re like reaching for a hand. It looks so good on you. Don’t ever forget that. Don’t ever hide.”

Luke Bryan followed, and he shared that Emmy Russell has come a long way since the beginning of the season. Initially, Emmy was known for being too shy and reserved. But he noticed that she’s finally come out of her shell, which will take her a long way now that she’s working on a solo career.

Lionel agreed with Luke. He said that every time she stepped on stage, he worried that her confidence would waver. But her final performance “blew [them] away.”

Emmy Russell may have closed her chapter on American Idol. But we’re certain we’ll see more of her in the months and years to come!
