Everyone loves a good scavenger hunt and a good book, so when you put the two together you have one awesome idea. Books on the Underground is a book movement that began with the unique mission to secretly place great books throughout London’s Underground stations for travelers to find and pass along for others to discover.

Books on the Underground finds “Book Fairies” to pick some of their favorite readings and hide them throughout the Tube network for lucky travelers to find. This week’s “Book Fairy” is one of the beloved movie stars of Harry Potter, the biggest selling book series of all-time, Emma Watson.

Watson, who loves to read, also serves as the UN Women Global Goodwill Ambassador. Watson selected Mom & Me & Mom by Maya Angelou for her hidden reading gem, that she’s stealthily scattering throughout the stations in London. Angelou’s book is also the latest read for her Our Shared Shelf book club.

The actress even wrote a special note inside each book. “Just one hundred copies were hidden on the Tube…” the note reads. “Take special care of it and when you are finished please leave it on the Tube again for someone else to find.”

Watson even encourages the finders to write comments and start discussions about the book on Our Shared Shelf’s Goodread’s page.

What an awesome way to encourage reading and friendly discussions!
