It’s important to make a good impression on a first date. But it’s a little tricky when the woman sitting beside you has no idea she’s actually on one.
Enter Elvin Mensah, an actor, entertainer, and perhaps one of the smoothest men alive. You might know him better by his nickname, “that train date guy.” The 29-year-old has a knack for charming every female commuter he meets with his hilarious out-of-context stunts.

Elvin is the kind of guy who loves catching people off-guard, especially those riding on the London Overground. He’s earned thousands of fans by bringing incongruous activities onto the train, like washing and drying his clothes while fellow travelers stare.
A few months ago, Elvin decided his comical repertoire needed a dash of romance. So he began setting up impromptu “dates on a train” with unwitting passengers and sharing their reactions on Instagram.
Each “date” varies, but all start the same. Elvin sits down next to a woman minding her own business. Then, he sets up a table, complete with tablecloth, flower-filled vase, and food. Casanova even pours out a couple of glasses of wine!

And while the women look confused at first, all of them ending up giggling at the wholesome prank. After all, it’s hard not to let your guard down when someone puts in so much effort just to make you smile!
In one clip, Elvin pulls out popcorn to share as he starts up “The Titanic” on his laptop. The woman next to him loses it when he pretends to weep.

In another, the English gentleman treats a lady to tea and a whipped cream-covered biscuit before holding an umbrella over her head. You know, in case it rains.

But the best part? Elvin, ever the master of deadpan humor, always keeps a straight face. His dates can’t say the same, as they’re all left grinning. Some even take him up on that glass of wine!
