Elijah Wood Subtly Announces He’s Married To Longtime Girlfriend

Elijah Wood Married

It appears congratulations are in order for Lord of the Rings star Elijah Wood. The 43-year-old actor reportedly married his longtime girlfriend Mette-Marie Kongsved recently in an intimate ceremony in Sweden. Elijah and Mette-Marie began dating in 2018 and welcomed their first child, a son, in 2019 and a daughter in 2022. Neither Elijah nor Mette-Marie is big on social media and tends to keep their private lives quiet. But it seems Elijah let the good news slip during a recent podcast interview. According to People, he told Michael Rosenbaum during an interview for Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum “I’m beyond grateful for my family and my kids, and my wife. Like, they are such an extension of me.”

Elijah Wood And Mette-Marie Kongsved Met Through Work

She produced the film I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore, which he starred in in 2017. They confirmed their relationship a year later. Witnesses reportedly told TMZ that Elijah and Mette-Marie married in Sweden on New Year’s Eve. The ceremony was intimate, with just 80 of their closest friends and family members in attendance.

Elijah is proud of his family but respects their individuality and privacy. He told WSJ Magazine he keeps his social media accounts private so that only those he knows personally and approves of can view his posts. It doesn’t appear Mette-Marie has much of a digital imprint either that isn’t related to her work.

“I wanted to be able to share photos that I didn’t necessarily want to share with the world,” he said. “An account that’s public-facing would really change what I share.”

Elijah clarified, “It’s not like I’m sharing anything that I wouldn’t want to go out, but I’m a relatively private person.”

Congratulations to the happy couple. May they live a long and happy life together.
