86-Yr-Old Man Hears About Preemie Babies In Need, Teaches Himself To Knit To Help Keep Them Safe & Warm.

It’s never too late to make an impact on the world. No matter what age you are, you can do something significant for someone that could be instrumental in creating a lasting joy in their life. Most people think of assisted-living homes in a negative light, even though many elderly people flourish through new friendships and a newfound sense of purpose.

When 86-year-old Ed Moseley heard about a need for premature babies in the NICU at Atlanta’s Northside Hospital, he decided he would put his engineering background to use to learn a new skill to help out – he taught himself to knit.

The premature babies at the Atlanta hospital were in need of tiny hats to keep their little heads warm. Stores do not typically carry clothes that are small enough for the little ones.

Moseley started to learn the craft of knitting and eventually was filling his couch with awesome tiny, little hats for the babies.

Between Moseley and some of the other residents at the assisted-living home in Georgia, they were able to donate 300 knitted hats to fill the need!

The caring Moseley went to the hospital to drop off the hats in person on World Prematurity Day. Although he wasn’t able to see the kids they would go to, we are sure the parents of the babies are forever grateful for his kind heart and hard work.

He plans to keep knitting at least 30 new hats a month for the hospital.

Babies in need deserve to be cared for and loved. It will take more of us to be like Ed Moseley to give our time and effort to make a difference in their lives.
