Dying Father Sings One Last Song With His Son. When They Get To The End… So Powerful.

When Lt. Col. Mark Weber of the Minnesota National Guard, who was battling stage four cancer, got on stage at the Minnesota History Center in Saint Paul to sing one final song with his son, it was already clear it was going to be an emotional moment. But it was beautiful at the same time. “Tell My Father” is a Civil War era song, and was a perfect match for what was going on in this video. The music was so heartfelt and meaningful that you can feel every word.

Towards the end of the song, things got even more emotional as they both had a break in their voices, probably fighting back tears. When the song is over, they embraced each other and you can see the amazing love and care between them… that’s what really got me. Seeing the love between them is so touching.

Lt. Col Mark Weber passed away in June of 2013, about a year after this video was shot, from gastrointestinal cancer at the age of 41.

Here’s our takeaway: Never take your family for granted. Not one of us has a guaranteed amount of time on this earth, so cherish EVERY moment you have with the ones you love!
