Trevor Obray could always count on his dad, even near the end of his life.
The news that Bob Obray was diagnosed with the brain disease CJD was devastating enough, but the fact that it was rapidly progressing and has no cure made it all the worse. Still, in the time the Obray family had left with Bob, they were able to make lasting special memories. Thankfully, one of them was caught on camera, and it’s something Trevor will cherish forever.
Despite his condition, Bob made sure he was there to see his son cross the finish line of the marathon he was participating in. Little did they know, however, that just a month later he would pass away, making this one of his last outings. Thankfully, they just so happened to film it.
“So glad we captured this moment,” Trevor’s wife, Maddie, wrote. “Trev’s dad has been and always will be his #1 supporter.”
In the video, an emotional Trevor holds his dad’s hand tightly as he speaks to him.
“I love you, dad,” he said. “My dad is who I am running for.”
