“Donkey Had The Weirdest Reaction To His New Jolly Ball”

Image shows a donkey who is confused about the purpose of a Jolly Ball.

If Eeyore were a real donkey, this would be him. When his owner tried to add some enrichment activity for the donkey, they gave him a new Jolly Ball. For those who don’t know, a Jolly Ball is a large, sturdy rubber ball designed for horses, donkeys, and other large animals. It has a handle they can grab with their mouth and toss. Animals will throw the balls or chase them around a corral for hours.

At least, most animals will play with this toy for hours. The donkey had a different thought. Crouching slightly, he positioned his posterior region over the toy. When you think he might be doing a doodie on it, he plops down on the ball instead.

A sharp hiss is heard as he hits the ball with his full weight, and dust flies off the ball. As if that wasn’t already hilarious enough, it got sillier. With his full weight flattening the Jolly Ball, the donkey starts to spin. At this point, there is speculation that he might think he is a chicken and is trying to “hatch” this odd blue egg.

The comments section begins with speculation about worms or an internal itch, which the donkey’s owners quickly ruled out. Other commenters suggest the donkey wants a chair instead of the Jolly Ball. Other donkey owners made similar suggestions, including a larger ball for Pilates. They also mentioned the judgmental goat looking across the field disapprovingly.
