Drivers in Tampa, Florida got a big surprise as they drove under an overpass on Interstate 275.
A local family’s dog had dug a hole under her fence and escaped, somehow finding her way to a small ledge holding up a light pole on the outside of the overpass. Animal Control officers from Hillsborough County arrived on the scene, and their body cameras captured the moment they scooped up the frightened pooch and got her safely into their vehicle.
“It was as on the ledge that was holding the pole for the light, so it maybe had a foot and a half of space that it could have landed on,” said Hillsborough County Animal Control officer Nick Pivulsiri.
Thankfully, the dog wasn’t hurt! Because she had a microchip, she was quickly reunited with her worried family. No one knows how the dog ended up perched on a ledge over a busy highway, but at least the story has a happy ending!
