It’s often a matter of perspective, but most pets are subtle when it comes to cries for attention: A horse might gently rub its muzzle against your hand, while a dog will look back and forth between you and a Frisbee until you get the hint.
Cats … well, they’re more likely to abandon the bounds of civility altogether and just sprawl on or attack whatever you’ve been focusing on for the last hour. And the dog in the clip below isn’t exactly a master of nuance either.
