This is a perfect example of why it is essential to listen to our children. Driving home from breakfast one day, her son asked his mom to stop on the side of the road. Wyatt had seen a cow off in the distance and “felt” that something was wrong. His mom, who goes by wranglingmomma on social media, pulled over and waited as the young boy went to investigate. What followed was a fantastic baby cow rescue.

Wyatt is only nine, but already shows an uncanny awareness of animals. He somehow knew the mother cow was in distress. It took a mile of driving to get his mom to turn around and go back. He was adamant that they needed to stop, so his mom finally relented. Wyatt had to squiggle through a barbed wire fence to get into the field. As he drew closer, what he found proved his instincts right, and the young boy got to work helping.
Wyatt saw the momma cow up on a rise. Down in a small creek, he saw a calf that was unable to get out of the crevasse. He did not hesitate. He climbed down into the creekbed. Using his strength and some coaxing, he was able to help the little calf climb over the edge of the embankment. Once the little calf scrambled to safety, Wyatt headed back to the car, baby cow rescue complete.
After the video got such a positive response, Wyatt sat down to record more about what happened. He explains a bit about how he “knew” something was wrong and how he knew how to help. Raising self-assured children is the goal of every parent, and Wyatt is becoming a fine young man.
