Diamond In The Rough: Workers Dig Through Recycling Bin To Find Lost Wedding Ring.

South Carolina recycling workers proved that we can always trust in the kindness of strangers after they sorted through mounds of trash to find a woman’s lost wedding ring.

Melanie Harper’s diamond band slipped off her finger as she was dropping some items off at a City of Greenville Public Works recycling station on Sunday, Jan. 28. Once she noticed what happened, she sent an email to the office asking the employees to keep an eye out. But she had little hope that she’d ever see her ring again.

“I know the likelihood of finding this is slim to none,” she wrote. “But, if the ring is found during the course of processing the recycling, I would be most appreciative if someone could contact me.”

According to a City of Greenville SC Instagram post, supervisors read the message the following morning. Several employees decided to dump the bins so they could hunt for the lost wedding ring. Ironically, a man named Travis Golden managed to find it.

The post shared that four others were part of the search, including Jeff Hammond, James Burnside, Frank Daigneault, and Manny Cruz.

“They called a very grateful Melanie,” the post concluded, “who came out to PW to reunite with her ring.”
