An adorable father and son duo are proving to the internet that mani-pedis aren’t just for the girls! De’Brence McClain, known as @youngblackdad on Instagram, loves taking his kid to the spa for a little indulgence. In doing so, this amazing father is teaching his son that there’s nothing “unmanly” about going to the nail salon. After all, taking good care of your body is important for everyone!
De’Brence and his son, Boris, went viral online after posting an Instagram reel about their self-care day. Good Morning America even reached out to the father and son about their mani-pedi experience. According to the young dad, doing your nails is not a gender-specific activity.
“I feel like everyone deserves to be pampered,” De’Brence said. “Everyone deserves to have a luxury experience.”
Commenters on Instagram loved seeing the father and son bonding at the nail salon.
“Finally a dad teaching his son hygiene, nontoxic masculinity, and having a great relationship,” wrote one user.
“Guys miss so many opportunities to bond with their sons/kids/loved ones…” added another. “It’s crazy to me that this is considered too feminine.”
It’s beautiful to see a father teaching his son to have an open mind to a variety of different activities, including things like going to the nail salon and getting a mani-pedi. These two certainly have a fantastic relationship!
