Dad Was Not Prepared For The Punny Prank His Family Played On Him

Kids have been pranking their dads since time began. Or at least since we lived in caves. It is almost a rite of passage for children to hoodwink Dad. When this family set out to prank their dad, they did it right. They set up the prank, then threw out the line. When the unwitting “fish” took the bait, they set the hook with precision.

The dad prank needed some advanced setup. The kids gathered running shoes and placed them in alternating patterns along the winding staircase. Then, they added a water bottle to each shoe. With the stage set, the panicked cries began from the upstairs landing. “DAD! There’s water running down the stairs!” It took several calls before Dad realized what they were hollering and came meandering to the lower landing.

He might have been moving quicker than usual, but he definitely was not running. As he reached the base of the staircase, he leaned against the handrails to see what the fuss was about. Bellowing, “WHAT THE HECK?” Then he stops in his tracks as his eyes focus on the shoes and water bottles. He takes a step back, hands raised in mock surrender.

Watching the dad see the prank and step back was hilarious, but the most humorous thing happened next. Dad hollered, “WHAT IS GOIN’ ON HERE?” The kids had to break the joke down before he “got” it. One girl tries hard to control her laughter as she tells him, “There’s water running down the stairs…” And then he “gets” it and doubles over in disbelief. Perhaps it was shock, or maybe embarrassment?

After that, there was nothing left for him to do but shake his head.
