Dad Leaps To The Rescue When Young Daughter Falls Off Disney Cruise

It’s said that the survival rate of falling off a cruise ship is a chilling 17-25 percent. So, when a little girl fell from a Disney cruise, there was absolutely no time to waste. Thankfully, many things aligned so that this story could get a happy ending. For starters, Disney’s cruise liners include a detection system that sends out an alert as soon as someone falls off. But Disney’s crew members weren’t the only ones who swooped in to save the day.

According to a fellow passenger, Dad and his 5-year-old girl were taking a photo just before the incident occurred. The little girl was sitting upon the railing with Dad taking the photo. That’s when she fell. As soon as Dad watched her take this massive fall, he dove into the water, reaching her long before anyone affiliated with the Disney Cruise could.

There were so many factors going against Dad and his little girl. Simply surviving the fall alone is a miracle. After that, Dad had to actually locate and swim over to his daughter. From there, the two of them managed to find the energy to tread water for a staggering 20 minutes. This was possible, in part, because Dad held her in his arms. From there, a rescue boat came by to save them.

“His child fell in the water and he instinctively, without hesitation, jumped in and went after his child,” Tracy Hugest, a passenger who watched this event unfold, says. “I believe, had he not done that, his child might not have survived.”

It’s very true that this harrowing incident could have easily ended in tragedy. Thankfully, everything aligned so that this brave dad and his daughter could survive.
