Dad Holds On For Dear Life Trying Not To Laugh At Kid’s Drawing Of Mom

Images show a Dad trying hard not to laugh at his kid's drawing.

Passing the kid’s drawing test is one of the most difficult “rites of passage” for any parent. This test entails looking at a drawing made by your child and not laughing, asking “What is it?” or giving any other inappropriate response. On this day, although both parents initially failed the test, Mom quickly recovered. Dad is probably still laughing.

Parenting is hard work. Our kids want us to be proud of them every day in everything they do. If your child lacks confidence, giving them a quick “I’m so proud of you” brightens their day and boosts their confidence and self-esteem. If it’s any consolation, I don’t think I’ve ever met a parent who passed the kid’s drawing test completely.

The daughter needed coaxing to show her Mom the drawing. After posing for ten minutes, Mom wanted to see the finished product. As their daughter hesitantly revealed the final product, Mom squeaked out between stifled giggles, “Is that me?” The daughter threw the pad aside and started to walk away. Mom halted her forward motion and went into fix-it mode.

“It’s nice. It’s so nice. I’ve never looked better. Where were you when it was time for senior photos?” As she was extolling the virtues of the lovely drawing, Dad was still on the floor across the room. The poor daughter said she didn’t think it looked good. Mom answered with a barely controlled, “IT’S FANTASTIC!”

Mom shifts into encouragement mode, telling her daughter she’s never seen anything like this and wants her to keep it up. The daughter gathers her thoughts and asks, “Then why was Daddy laughing?” Mom tries desperately to save Dad, but he fails too horribly to be saved.
