With a house full of furbabies, Jillian Johnson recently added a real baby to the mix. All the animals are fine with the new addition, even if they don’t understand what it is. Daphne is a long-haired dachshund who is ready to play with the baby. When she gives her ball to the baby, Daphne can’t understand why the little human isn’t throwing it.

One day, Daphne. Mom estimates it might be a year to 18 months before their daughter can toss the ball. The determined little dachshund keeps trying, though. At one point, Jillian thought the baby might kick the ball for the dog, but she just trapped it under her foot.
The little family is adjusting to its newest member. The animals are relaxed in the presence of this odd-looking little “puppy.” The cats and Daphne are staying close, almost protectively. Lying on the back of the sofa above the baby’s head, Daphne and one of the cats are content. They seem right at home, as if they are on guard duty.
Daphne has zero patience for the new human. She thinks it is high time the child learns to throw the ball. Her arms move, so the dachshund is certain the baby can throw the ball. Her confusion over the child’s steadfast refusal to play is mindboggling.
Several posts on Jillian’s TikTok page show that Daphne is a lively dog. She loves rolling and playing with her cat siblings, but above all else, she loves to play fetch.
