If this little Shih Tzu had been a driver, it would’ve been charged with speeding, failing to yield the right of way, and probably a whole host of other violations. Thankfully, the dog emerged unharmed after sprinting through heavy traffic, but your heart will seriously pound while watching this two-minute marathon.

After breaking away from its owner last month, the lightning-fast pup emerged from a side street in Mexico City. A Good Samaritan took off in pursuit, racing through one of the city’s busiest streets in an attempt to save the dog.

The Good Samaritan was riding his bike along Avenida Revolución and caught the entire high-speed chase on his helmet camera.
A long leash trails behind the scrappy dog as it runs alongside a bus for several seconds, pulls ahead of it, darts in front of a white car, then momentarily disappears beneath the carriage of a nearby car.

The cyclist shouts out warnings to other drivers as he speeds up, chasing after the dog as it continues along the street. After nearly a quarter mile, a man working at a construction site reaches down and snags the leash, bringing an end to the dramatic chase.

And yes, the Shih Tzu was eventually returned to its owner. It’s a miracle he was unharmed!
