Coyote Found Chilling in California Middle School Bathroom Stall

Coyote Bathroom

Going into a middle school bathroom isn’t for the faint of heart. We all know that adolescents aren’t always the tidiest of people and sometimes a public bathroom looks like a playground. If we didn’t know better, we might think those bathrooms were filled with wild animals. At Jurupa Unified’s Mission Middle School in Riverside, California, staff found an actual coyote in one of the school’s bathrooms. They had to call animal control to pick it up. The incident happened in 2022, but the coyote is making the rounds again, and people still can’t believe it.

The Coyote Seemed Pretty Happy in the Bathroom

A Riverside County Animal Services officer found the coyote sitting in the back stall in the bathroom. You might expect that it would be a bit aggressive. Yet this coyote seemed perfectly content to sit next to the commode on the cool white tile.

“Staffers told Officer Will Luna the coyote had been spotted several times in recent weeks, but it had never ventured into the school grounds. The staff nicknamed the coyote ‘Wile E.’ as a nod to the infamous hunter of the Road Runner in Warner Bros. cartoons,” the animal control office shared in a news release. “The bathroom was closed off until Officer Luna’s arrival. He successfully lassoed the scared, male coyote, believed to be about 9 months old. Officer Luna released it into a rural area away from the school where he said he did not believe it would return.”

Luckily, they found the coyote in the bathroom before school started, and no adults or children were hurt. If we saw something like that in the stall, we’d get out of there just as fast as the Road Runner.
