We’ve heard of cowboys lassoing cattle at rodeos and ranches and on the open plains… but on a busy highway? Now that’s a new one to us!
A renegade cow decide to try her hoof at being an outlaw as she ran along the shoulder of Interstate 75 in Holly, Michigan. A team of wranglers on horseback and four-wheelers pursued the runaway as she dashed into the road, expertly evading capture. Michigan State Police closed down lanes on the highway during the chase.
Finally, one of the men on horseback lassoed the cow and lead her onto the highway’s grassy median.
“Eventually after much tomfoolery, the critter was captured and removed from the freeway,” authorities said lightheartedly on Twitter. “The bovine was not charged and is back in the pasture with a story to tell all the other livestock.”
The local outlet WDIV 4 reports that the heroic cowboy who lassoed the animal was professional wrangler Ricky Littlejohn.
