For many people, going grocery shopping is a task they do because they have to, not because they particularly enjoy it.

Yet, for Michael Hurd and Jessica Bojanowski, the weekly shop became a time to reconnect with the person they love the most in the world. Their Sunday morning shopping trips to the Batavia, Illinois Aldi became a weekly event akin to date night, so when they saw an ad for the store’s Happily Ever ALDI contest, they knew they had to enter!
Hundreds of couples from around the United States entered to win a chance to hold their wedding inside one of Aldi’s stores. Jessica and Michael put their names in as soon as they heard about it, and they were over the moon when they later found out they’d won.
“The people who know us best, know we’re obsessed with ALDI,” the couple told People. “So they were excited for us when we told them we won this contest.”
On November 9th, Jessica and Michael were joined by the friends and family at the Batavia Aldi. One of the store’s employees officiated the ceremony, which was held right there in the same produce aisle they’d spent so much time in. After they tied the knot, everyone went to the wine and beer section for the reception.
All of the food was provided by Aldi. There was even a charcuterie board that was as long as one of the check-out lanes!
In an adorable nod to the Aldi method of using a quarter to “rent” your shopping cart, the couple’s cake topper was a tiny cart and quarter.
Michael and Jessica still can’t believe their good fortune, and said getting married at the store felt “like a dream come true.”
“We still can’t believe we had the opportunity to get married in one of our favorite places, surrounded by all our family and friends,” they said.
This may not be everyone’s idea of a dream wedding, but it’s perfect for this couple! We’re so happy that they got to live their dream on their special day.
