The big box chain is famous for respecting its workers with fair wages and a positive work-life balance, and it’s proving that once again by opting to shut down operations so its employees can enjoy the day with friends and family.
According to its website, Labor Day is one of seven major holidays observed by Costco. All locations also close for Christmas, New Year’s, Thanksgiving, Independence Day, Easter, and Memorial Day.
“Good for @costco, allowing their employees to observe standard holidays,” a fan wrote on x.
“So @Costco & @costcocanada close on Labor Day each year? Costco treats their employees & member-customers much better than @SamsClub. I’ve known that for years and will back it up,” another added.
Locations will operate as usual for the majority of Labor Day weekend, so there’s still time to stock up on all your grilling needs. Stores will re-open normally on Tuesday, September 2nd.
