Retiring Cop Goes “Footloose” During Final Sign Off.

After 30 years of protecting and serving the citizens of Decatur, Illinois, Officer Cory Burrows was eager to start his retirement.

The retiring cop admits he he was feeling a bit emotional about bidding his career farewell after so many years, but his wife, Lisa Simpson-Barrows, convinced him to do his final sign-off in style. Since friends and family say that Cory is secretly very good at doing a certain dance, it wasn’t hard for Lisa to think of a way for him to end his career with flair.

Lisa recorded Cory’s last day and later uploaded the video to Facebook, where it went viral. The video starts with Cory signing off over the radio on a somber note. “It’s been an honor and a privilege,”he told the dispatcher. After the dispatcher thanks him for his service, Cory drops the tough-cop exterior and cracks a smile. “But first – I’m gonna cut loose!”he announces, flinging open his car door.

Suddenly “Footloose” by Kenny Loggins starts playing, and before we know what’s happening Cory is cutting a rug right then and there!

He’s got the dance steps down-pat! You can tell this isn’t the first time he’s done the dance, which was featured in the 1984 movie starring Kevin Bacon. “I’m done!”Cory exclaims as he finishes his dance. According to the retired cop, he stopped just short of performing the song to his usual high standard. “I usually go down and do the splits,”he explained, “but I didn’t do it with all the equipment.â€

Lisa wrote “anyone who knows Cory Barrows knows he had to go out in style to his infamous song!” The video racked up hundreds of thousands of views on Facebook, which is pretty cool considering Cory was reluctant to share his dancing talent with the world. “I didn’t want to actually do it,”he said, “My wife suggested it because she thought it would be funny to share.”
