Unfortunately, this elderly man couldn’t go out and about like he used to. However, the dog show community was able to organize a competition at his assisted living facility! Over 30 people brought their prized pooches to this heartwarming gathering. One participant shared the sweetest footage from the event, along with an explanation of how it all came about.
“The dog show community really showed up today,” they wrote on social media. “A fellow dog show exhibitor works for a hospice service and found out a patient of a local assisted living facility had shown Weimaraners for 35+ years. He had the opportunity to use their ‘memorable moments’ program (like Make-A-Wish) and bring the dog show to him!”
Commenters were so touched by this incredible gesture. They were really impressed with how far the dog show community was willing to go for this elderly man at an assisted living facility!
“This deserves so much attention,” wrote one user. “Genuinely one of the sweetest things I’ve seen a community come together to do. Small scale doesn’t mean small impact!!”
Everyone loved seeing these adorable dogs!
As the original poster revealed in the comments section, the dog show at the assisted living facility cheered up a lot of elderly residents.
“Any time I glanced over there was someone petting or smiling at a dog!!” they said.
We can learn two very important lessons from this wonderful act of kindness. One, small communities can make a big difference in someone’s life. Two, dogs make everyone’s day better, period.
