There are some songs that spark nostalgia and excitement no matter how old the song is. One of those songs is Queen’s famous ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’.
You’ve heard the classic tune before – but you’ve probably never heard it the way Christina Ramos sang it. Christina is a current contestant on “America’s Got Talent: Champions“, and if anyone doubted that title before, they certainly don’t now.
Christina won her season of “Spain’s Got Talent” and was asked to participate in Simon Cowell’s special “Champions” season of “America’s Got Talent.” When the singer got on stage she told the judges she was very nervous because this was her first trip to America.
You’d never know she was nervous when she started her performance, though. Wrapped in a beautiful white, floor-length cape, the singer sang the famous first lyric, “Mama” in opera style and blew everyone away with her voice.
Christina continued to belt out the first verse of the song – hitting notes that most could only dream of reaching. The audience was fully prepared for a gorgeous opera rendition of the legendary song – until she threw off her cape and actual fire started burning behind her on stage.
Cameras caught all four judges and host Terry Crews’ shocked reactions – which basically matched everyone’s in the audience. Christina suddenly went from refined in white to wild in black. She brought a crazy fun new twist to the classic rock song.
The shock-factor only added to her performance, because she proved that she has the chops to sing beautifully in multiple styles. When she finished her performance, judge Howie Mandel called it “very original” and “very different” and said that it “makes sense” she’s a champion.
Fellow judges Simon, Mel B., and Heidi Klum echoed Howie’s praise. Heidi called the performance “so much fun” and Simon said he was relieved he didn’t have to make any decisions on her fate on the show because it’s up to the audience.
No matter what happens to Christina on the show, we have a feeling she’s already got a huge new fanbase here in America.
