After nearly a year in space, NASA astronaut Christina Koch is finally back on Earth.
The 40-year-old spent a total of 328 days on the International Space Station, breaking the record for the longest single spaceflight by a woman. Now, the history-maker is ready to enjoy some quality time with her friends and relatives – and her dog!

“This journey has been everyone’s journey,” Christina wrote on Twitter. “Thank you to all involved in the success of our mission, and for giving me the opportunity to carry everyone’s dreams into space. I’m filled with gratitude to be back on the planet!”
Christina celebrated her return with a trip to a beach and a long-awaited reunion with her beloved dog, Little Brown Dog.

Because she was gone so long, Christina feared “LBD” might not remember her. But when she arrived at her home in Galveston, Texas, it became clear she had nothing to worry about!
In a video Christina shared on Twitter, we see LBD waiting inside the house, staring intently outside. As soon as LBD realizes her mom is really home, she can’t contain her excitement! She paws at the door, tail wagging furiously, until it finally opens.

We can practically feel the joy in this sweet dog as she rushes toward Christina! Then she barks in delight and covers her mom with kisses. Clearly, this is the happiest day of her life!

The moment is just as blissful for Christina, who cries, “Hi, baby girl!” over and over again.
