Christian Bale Launches Decades-Long Dream Project Aiding Children In Foster Care

Christian Bale stands outside, talking to the camera. Construction is happening nearby behind him. A group of people also stand at a distance

Christian Bale was raised to have a giving spirit. He has his dad, in part, to thank for this wonderful trait. Still, it wasn’t until 2005 that Bale found his big passion project. This is the year that him and his wife, Sibi, had their daughter, Luka. Doing so made Bale more aware than ever of how important it is for little ones to have a reliable, caring adult in their lives.

This led to Bale discovering a somber fact: Los Angeles, where the actor lives, has the highest number of children in the foster care system than anywhere else in the country. Plus, the system works in a way that is often traumatizing for the kids. So, Bale dreamed of creating a better option for those in foster care. And now, he’s closer than ever!

His revolutionary organization, Together California, aims to do a few things. First, they want to keep siblings together. Second, they want to provide housing that feels safe and welcoming. Their village, as they call it, will have two studio apartments. According to their website, it will be home to birth parents working toward family reunification and traditional housing for children who are aging out of foster care.

Plus, there will even be professional foster parents who live on site. That way, the foster kids always have access to the care they deserve. So, although Bale says he’s been criticized for the cost of the project vs how many kids it will help, he is steadfast in his belief that the money, effort, and time are more than worth it.

Christian Bale Proves to be a Generous Soul with the Founding of Together California

“‘That’s a lot of money for only 70 kids,'” Bale recalls someone saying, “But it’s 70 kids or 80 kids forever, and if even one of those children ends up having an amazing life and potentially contributes to society and this village made it possible for them, I think it’s a bargain.”

Together California first broke ground in 2024. Now, it’s in the final stages of development. To help them reach the finish line, you can donate here.
