It’s nearly Christmas, and for plenty of families, no holiday season is complete without a little Clark W. Griswold and family in the National Lampoons Vacation franchise. Chevy Chase made the character famous, and it’s been a beloved part of Americana for decades. Christmas Vacation is filled with classic lines, including one about Cousin Eddie dumping his toilet into a storm sewer. Chevy Chase recently shared a picture on Instagram of his granddaughter in a sleeper with the funny line right across her bottom.

He captioned the pic, “@em_chases and @alex.baglieri brought my beautiful granddaughter over. Check out her fanny!”
It’s a sweet pic, but some fans noticed something unusual.
Chevy Chase Had A Black Eye While Holding His Granddaughter
He was all smiles in the picture, but it’s hard to see that his eye looks injured. Fans quickly raced to the comment section to share well wishes and ask questions.
One wrote, “Such a precious photo, and I’m sorry to see you’re injured, I hope your eye gets well soon.”
Another joked, “Did that little baby just beat up Chevy? Blink twice if you need help, Chevy.”
“You need to Stop driving the Family Truckster over Cliffs Clark.😂Hope Your Eye BooBoo Goes Away Soon. That Looks Like it hurts LOTS,” a fan pointed out.
This person made a Funny Farm reference, “Got in a fight with the mailman in Red Bud?”
Chevy didn’t respond to any of the fan’s concerns, but TMZ wanted to be sure Chevy Chase and his granddaughter were OK.
His rep told TMZ, “He does not like to brag, but he fights crime late at night. You can thank him later.”
All joking aside, the rep confirmed he “just bumped his head in his hotel room, rushing for a meeting.”
We hope Chevy Chase and his granddaughter have the hap, hap, happiest Christmas since, well, you know.
