It’s official: Cher is now making gelato. Earlier this week, the “Turn Back Time” singer announced the launch of her new sweet treats. Helping her bring her creations to the world is New Zealand ice cream company Giapo. However, you’ll find the pop star’s flavors under the name, “Cherlato.”
“Yep, This Is Real…. I’m Launching My Gelato,” wrote Cher in an Instagram post. “Watch Out LA‼︔
Cherlato also has its own Instagram account, which has been posting frequent updates about the project’s progress. According to their content, the brand is focused on fresh, local ingredients. One of Cher’s representatives spoke to PEOPLE, affirming that the singer’s gelato flavors are indeed going to be available.
“Guided by Cher, Giapo, our resident expert gelato maestro, is equipped with the finest ingredients from local SoCal farms,” reads a post from Cherlato. “Our gelato is prepared from scratch each day, and loaded onto the truck within hours of its creation for peak freshness. Once we mix, blend and infuse the flavors, every batch is pure gelato perfection.”
So far, the Instagram account hasn’t revealed what any of the flavors will be. However, they have promised that a lot of thought and effort has gone into the products!
“A few years ago, Cher met Giapo and together, the pair brainstormed, taste-tested, experimented and eventually conceived Cherlato – the boldest and coldest gelato creations LA has ever had,” the brand added in another post.
An update that should delight L.A. residents is that Cher plans to serve her frozen desserts to the city in one of the most iconic vehicles of all time: an ice-cream truck!
“There’s something magical about hearing the jingle of an ice-cream truck, knowing that a delicious treat is just around the corner,” writes Cherlato on Instagram. “We want to spark joy in your day, serving up our boldest and coldest gelato creations in some of the hottest spots in LA!”
