We wouldn’t typically expect someone who was about to turn 100 to have energy to spare and a desire for daring adventures, but Charlie Montanaro isn’t your average person. Nothing was going to stop him from celebrating his triple-digit birthday in a big way!

The World War II veteran has seen and done many extraordinary things over the course of his lifetime. Since he remains physically fit and is still able to be independent, he’s made it his mission to live life to the fullest. That’s why he decided to celebrate his 100th birthday by skydiving.
After serving in the military and spending his days going on adventures, Charlie said his thought process was simple: “I flew planes for years, I guess I’ll try jumping out of one.”
So Honor Flight Nevada, an organization that arranges wonderful experiences for veterans, got to work, setting everything up to make Charlie’s wish come true.
On his big day, Charlie headed to SkyDive Arizona/Adventures in Skydiving in Eloy and rode a plane 13,500 feet up – before leaping out in tandem with an experienced skydiver! He soared through the air and came to a smooth landing with a giant smile on his face. In fact, he instantly said, “I’d do that again.”
Clearly, Charlie’s adventurous spirit has helped him lead a long, healthy life! At 100 years old, he has no plans to start slowing down because there’s still so much to do.
When he was asked what his secret is for good health, he said, “Nobody ever believes me, but I led a good, clean life.”
We certainly believe it! How else could he inspire so many people to enjoy each moment, no matter how young or old they may be?
Check out Charlie’s fearless jump in the video below, and be sure to share this story with your friends.
