Fitz and his brother Vladdie are adventure cats. They live and explore in and around Ontario, Canada. They accompany their mom on hikes, bike rides, kayaking trips, and even snow sledding. Their mom recently upgraded the cat’s kayak adventure capabilities by customizing individual kayaks for each.

The cat kayak is actually a floating cooler sold on Amazon. Fitz’s mom has added some pool noodle stabilizing attachments. This keeps the cooler from flipping if the cat moves around during adventures. To get the two animals used to riding in their own little “floatilla,” she practiced by allowing them to float in still water. Once they were comfortable, she began towing the cat kayaks behind her own kayak.
Although Fitz and Vladdie’s mom includes a link to the cooler she uses as a cat kayak, she adds a warning. The coolers can tip, so the added stability gained from the pool noodles should not be ignored if you try this for your own adventure cat.
Fitz likes to chill in his cat kayak. He lies quietly, chasing the occasional bug and napping contentedly. Vladdie is apparently more rambunctious. He prefers sitting up and watching everything around him. Both cats normally wear personal flotation devices. If they do fall out of their kayaks, they will not be in danger. Fitz sometimes refuses his life jacket, but they paddle close to shore in shallow waters, and both cats enjoy swimming.
