Carrie Underwood, Kristin Chenoweth & Christina Applegate Sing Sweet 1960s Medley.

Certain songs only sound right when sung by a trio of women wearing poofy skirts and beehive hairdos.

…At least, that’s what singer Carrie Underwood thinks, according to a segment in her holiday variety show, “Carrie Underwood: An All-Star Holiday Special.” In one popular YouTube clip from the show, Carrie teams up with Kristin Chenoweth and Christina Applegate for a few songs, and the resulting performance is just too adorable for words.

Christina starts the segment by admitting how intimidating it is to sing with such accomplished vocalists as Carrie and Kristin. She’s not wrong – when you think of singing, you rarely think of the “Married With Children” blonde bombshell.

Kristin, of course, is a Broadway darling with several Tony Awards under her belt, and we all know how talented Carrie is, with her multiple Grammy Awards. Yet it turns out that Christina is a pretty decent singer in addition to her acting prowess.

After a quick debate about who gets to sing with country music legend Dolly Parton (Carrie does, naturally), the ladies agree to put on some of those aforementioned poofy dresses and wigs… but only because Dolly wears them!

The ladies then embark on a trip down memory lane, singing three hits from a bygone era that will have you tapping your toe and singing along.

Taking to the stage, Kristin, Christina, and Carrie sing a medley of 1960s girl group hits like “Be My Baby,” “Leader of the Pack,” and “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?”

Carrie and Kristin’s voices are spot on, as you’d expect, but Christina’s tentative singing is a pleasant surprise. She’s also got sass to spare, bringing a certain spunk to the routine that has us all smiling.

Now we see why Christina was nominated for a Tony Award for her role in “Sweet Charity” on Broadway. She’s holding her own among two huge superstars!

There’s a reason this clip has been viewed millions of times on YouTube – it’s just too cute!
