In Unusual Fashion, An Emotional Simon Cowell Hits Golden Buzzer After Immediate Gut-Feeling About Contestant.

There really are no words to describe the courage of 16-year-old Calysta Bevier. Just a year ago, Calysta received the most horrific news of her life. While on vacation, her mother noticed a lump on her stomach and took her to the hospital. Doctors soon diagnosed her with stage 3 ovarian cancer.

Throughout the entire summer, Calysta went through chemotherapy. Though she says that losing her hair was the day in which she cried the most, she never lost her spirit. One foundation came through her love of music and singing. She believes that “Songs can really help people through any situation.”

On August 28th, after her diagnosis and subsequent treatment, Calysta went into remission.

Now, with her hair starting to grow back as well as her strength, Calysta took her triumph to explore her dreams through America’s Got Talent. Choosing “Fight Song” for her audition, she brought power with an emotional and heart-wrenching audition. “I came here to show people that no matter what you’ve gone through, to keep chasing your dreams,” Calysta said of what brought her to the stage.

Simon revealed afterwards that even before she told her inspiring story, he knew she had something special as soon as she walked on stage… and I couldn’t agree more. Because of that, Calysta received the highest honor during an audition: The Golden Buzzer!!

Her genuine and brave personality makes her a person you can connect with, even if that’s just through a computer screen. My heart goes out to the amazing and brave young woman, and I can’t wait to see her again in the live show!

Calysta is one-of-a-kind, as is her performance. Share her incredible story with the world!
